
The Scottish locations are picture-postcard beautiful. But these sincerely eye-catching youngsters cannot rescue a film that’s hellbent on self destruction in spite of having so much going for it.

The three young actors are a joy to behold, and one of them is definitely star-material. These sequences are written with poise warmth and grace. There are some handsomely crafted scenes woven around a Punjabi family in Edinburgh cooking, laughing, eating and exchanging meaningful glances in the kitchen. Tum Bin 2 does take its time to tell its story. And you wonder if some of the scenes after interval had been hastily edited for the sake of enforced brevity. In Tum Bin 2 writer-director Anubhav Sinha explores the vagaries of the heart with such heartbreaking visual radiance that it breaks your heart to see his meticulously mounted ode to Valentinian love fall apart.īeyond the mid-point the narrative goes completely out of Sinha’s control. But while the triangular conflict lasts, it feels right. We too are not sure if this is what our hearts want. Who asked Jagjit Saab’s consent for this unscheduled duet? In much the same way that the film’s protagonist Taran (Neha Sharma) asks Shekhar (Aditya Seal) at the end of the movie who gave him permission to decide what her heart wants. If he meant that particular Ghazal Teri fariyaad to be a duet wouldn’t he have sung it with his wife Chitra Singh?

In the torrent of songs that flows freely in this hopelessly romantic love triangle produced by T Series (for those who came in late, T Series are predominantly into music) there is the much-missed Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh rising from the dead-not unlike the film’s heroine’s lover who’s presumed dead in a skiing accident-to match voices with Rekha Bhardwaj in an excruciatingly nostalgic duet. 'Tum Bin 2' is a half-baked emotionally romantic film, which works only in parts and fails to match up to the brilliance of 'Tum Bin'. He fails badly in the second half due to the half-baked screenplay and unwanted tracks in the film. Few songs are unwanted as they add up to the length of the film and dilutes the flow.ĭirector Anubhav Sinha fails to enhance the beauty of his debut film. The emotional quotient is not appealing nor convincing in the finale portions. The twists are predictable and climax part is totally bland as it lacks the soul factor. The movie drags on without any reasons and dilutes the impact of the film. The second falls flat due to cluttered screenplay and repetitive moments. Meher Vij and Sonia Balani lend good support. Kanwaljit Singh is superb in his small role. Aditya Seal looks promising and succeeds in the emotional scenes. Neha Sharma looks beautifully stunning and does her part with total grace. The music of 'Tum Bin' was one of the key reasons for its success and out here, there are few fantastic songs which adds more depth to the emotional scenes.ĭirector Anubhav Sinha manages to create the same atmosphere and succeeds in making the first half connect with its audience. The cinematography is superb and all the outdoor locations are fantastic. There are some good dialogues which adds up as an additional screenplay in the first half of the film. The movie has some great emotionally enriching scenes which are the highlight of the film and gives perfect tribute to the main concept of 'Tum Bin' franchise. The first half is enjoyable as well as intriguing due to the emotional and musical connect. The basic story idea is almost similar to 'Tum Bin' and goes perfectly with its theme.

But before they could move ahead fate takes a twisted turn. In this process they fall in love with each other. Shekar blends with everyone and also helps Taran to overcome her grief. He also introduces his friend’s son Shekhar (Aditya Seal) to Taran and her family. As time flies Papaji requests Taran to move on with her life. This shatters Taran and Amar's father Papaji (Kanwaljeet Singh). One day while skiing Amar meets up with an accident and due to snow avalanche is body is nowhere to be found. 'Tum Bin 2' is a story of Amar (Aashim Gulati) and his girlfriend Taran (Neha Sharma), who are enjoying their winter holidays in a ski resort. The franchise factor along with some good songs has managed to gather mild expectations despite of presence of any big name in the film. Director Anubhav Sinha made his debut with 'Tum Bin' in 2001 and after that went into the action genre by making films like 'Dus', 'Cash' and 'Ra.One'.He returns back to his old genre of emotional romance after a gap of fifteen years with 'Tum Bin 2'.
